  • in Support of Air Navigation Service Provider in Kazakhstan
(Elkridge, Md., February 24, 2010) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has been selected to provide the Enhanced Terminal Voice Switch (ETVS) in support of Kazaeronavigatsia, the Republic of Kazakhstan's National Air Navigation Services Provider.

The ETVS is the primary communications link between air traffic controllers and aircrews onboard commercial aircraft. The system provides Air Traffic Control (ATC) mission critical communications with superior voice quality, non-blocking access to all data channels, and a net-centric based system control terminal. Features include air-to-ground and ground-to-ground access, full conferencing and Voice-over-Internet Protocol. The system also incorporates extensive redundancy elements and built-in diagnostics designed for trouble-free reconfiguration, expansion and maintenance.

Under the terms of the contract, Northrop Grumman will deliver seven ETVS systems to Advantek International Inc. in July of 2010.

"We have delivered over 500 ETVS systems to our domestic FAA and Department of Defense partners because our customers recognize the reliability and ease of maintenance associated with our switches," said John Jadik, vice president of Communications, Intelligence and Networking Solutions for Northrop Grumman's Land and Self Protection Systems Division. "Air traffic control is an international language and by providing our vitally important voice switches to both domestic and international customers we can ensure global consistency and enhanced safety across the world's airspace."
