Orbit Receives Order for Rugged Tablet Supporting FMS Chinook Upgrade Program(Hauppauge, New York, January 20, 2010) -- Orbit International Corp. (NASDAQ: ORBT), an electronics manufacturer, systems integrator and software solution provider, today announced that its Electronics Group received a purchase order in excess of $1,000,000 directly from a leading Foreign Defense Ministry. This award will require its Orbit Instrument Division, located in Hauppauge, New York, to design a Display Tablet ("Tablet") in support of an ongoing Chinook Helicopter upgrade program.
The award includes the design, qualification, and delivery of an initial quantity of production Tablets that will enhance and upgrade mission avionics and control capabilities for the Chinook helicopter aircraft operators. Although the design phase of the new Tablet will begin immediately, qualification testing and initial production Tablets are currently scheduled for delivery during the first quarter of 2011. This upgrade award covers all deployable aircraft currently in service. Given the current number of new aircraft that are scheduled for procurement, a subsequent award for that new production aircraft program is expected to be placed by the customer during the third quarter of 2010. The potential contract award could be in excess of $750,000. Tablets under the new contract requirement would be scheduled for delivery throughout 2012. The intent of this staggered award cycle is to have an overlapping quantity of Tablets available to support the retrofit of current aircraft, simultaneously with the delivery of new Chinook helicopters that will be available for integration of Tablets within the same production program period of time.

Dennis Sunshine, President and Chief Executive Officer of Orbit International, commented, "Given the level of interest in our niche hardware designs and software capabilities at the Defense & Security Electronics International Exhibition, ("DESi"), our Electronics Group has been working with several leading foreign military supply contractors in support of new Tablet opportunities. For the first time, our Company shipped a fully operational MK 119 naval gun weaponry cabinet to the DESi Exhibition, which included our Behlman Electronics uninterruptible power sources, complemented by our Electronics Group human-machine-interface devices."
Sunshine continued, "This is the second such award our Electronics Group has received for the design of a rugged Tablet capable of operating in desert, mountainous, or severe environmental battlefield conditions. Our Tablets have included keyboards, trackball, joystick and data input components, configured in such a way that the unit can be worn on a thigh of an aircraft operator with a velcro strap or, as a stand alone Tablet of multiple sizes that can fit in areas easily accessible for immediate use by aircraft and armored vehicle crew members. Since we have a successful record of designing and delivering DOD prime contractors with units capable of providing real time data functions, immediately available to crew members for any mission, we are aggressively pursuing this rugged Tablet market for shipboard, avionic, and vetronic program opportunities."
Sunshine concluded, "We are working with prime contractors on several other opportunities that originated from our presence at the DESi show, some of which could have significant revenue potential. These potential business opportunities could result in orders by the second half of 2010."
