British Army to Showcase Goodrich ISR Systems at Bahrain Airshow

  • Intelligence exploitation system and stabilized gimbal will be demonstrated by soldiers at inaugural show
(Charlotte, N.C., January 20, 2010) -- Technology from Goodrich Corporation's (NYSE: GR) ISR Systems business will be demonstrated by the British Army at the Bahrain International Airshow (BIAS), January 21-23, 2010 at the Sakhir Airbase in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The demonstration will include Goodrich's intelligence exploitation system as well as its new stabilized camera gimbal integrated onto a developmental vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).

At the British Army demonstration area, visitors will be able to watch the soldiers gather full motion video through the integrated stabilized TASE LT gimbal provided by Goodrich's Cloud Cap Technology team and view it in near real-time on the intelligence exploitation system, which allows dissemination to multiple sources. The stabilized camera within the gimbal will be remotely controlled by the British Army team via a wireless hand controller. The full motion video captured will be transmitted, via WiFi, directly to the exploitation system allowing the audience to see, almost immediately, what can be seen from the camera within AESIR Ltd.'s VTOL UAV.

Sam Macleod, Managing Director for Goodrich ISR Systems in Malvern, UK, said, "Having the British Army demonstrating ISR Systems' and AESIR's technologies gives us an opportunity to show how we can provide innovative and cost effective solutions in support of reach-forward surveillance for armed forces and civilian authorities."
