Early Christmas Cheer for BAE Down Under

(London, UK, December 18, 2009) -- The Australian Government has awarded BAE Systems two new military helicopter support contracts, with a combined value of more than GBP133 million (AUD $240 million), bringing early Christmas cheer to the Company's operations in New South Wales and Queensland.

The new contracts, which underpin BAE Systems' global frontline support capabilities will see the Company maintain Seahawk and Black Hawk helicopters, in service with both the Royal Australian Navy and Army.

Scope of the contract work includes scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, structural repairs, engineering services, logistic support services, technical training for military personnel and the provision of specialised equipment and workshop support.

BAE Systems, the largest defence Company in Australia, is a major capability provider to the Australian Defence Forces across the aerospace, land, maritime and joint sectors.

In addition to the new business announced today, the Company already provides deep maintenance for Royal Australian Air Force F/A-18 fighters and integrated support services for the Royal Australian Navy's four guided missile frigates.
