NIITEK Awarded First Export Order

(December 14, 2009) -- Chemring Group PLC ("Chemring") is pleased to announce that its US subsidiary, Non-Intrusive Inspection Technology, Inc. ("NIITEK"), based in Sterling and Charlottesville Virginia, has been awarded a FMS (foreign military sales) contract for the supply of its Husky Mounted Detection System Ground Penetrating Radar ("HMDS GPR") kits to the Canadian Armed Forces. The HMDS GPR is used by combat engineers on route clearance patrols to locate and detect buried mines and explosives. This is the first contract awarded to NIITEK to support coalition forces, and has a maximum potential value of $34 million.

Dr David Price, Chief Executive of Chemring, commented "This contract represents the first export order for NIITEK's HMDS GPR system. HMDS is the only operational ground penetrating radar system currently in operational use, protecting US and coalition forces."
