Rolls-Royce BR725 engines power 1st flight of Gulfstream G650

  • 'The combination of the Gulfstream G650 and the BR725 engines has resulted in an exceptional aircraft with exceptional performance'
(November 30, 2009) -- Two Rolls-Royce BR725 engines powered the successful maiden flight of the Gulfstream G650 at 1:41 p.m. on 25 November, 2009. The flight took place at Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation's headquarters in Savannah, Georgia, USA. The aircraft reached an altitude of 6,600 feet and a speed of 170 knots.

The G650 will now undergo an intensive flight test programme ahead of entry into service planned for 2012.
