Raytheon Awarded $20 M to Support Upgraded Kuwait Patriot Radar Systems

(Dubai, UAE, November 15, 2009) -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) has been awarded a $20.5 million Foreign Military Sales contract for spares to support planned Patriot Configuration-3 system upgrades for the State of Kuwait.

This sole source, not-to-exceed contract from the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command, Redstone Arsenal, Ala., calls for essential parts to support the sustainment of Configuration-3 radar systems to ensure continued mission performance. Configuration-3 radar enhancements include improved detection of small targets in a cluttered environment, enhanced capabilities to discriminate and identify tactical ballistic missile warheads, and an expanded area of defense with improved remote launch capabilities.

"By upgrading to Configuration-3, Kuwait will have the latest Patriot technology to ensure mission readiness," said Sanjay Kapoor, vice president for Patriot Programs at Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems (IDS). "These enhancements bring a robust and proven capability to Kuwait's air and missile defense units and their ability to counter current and evolving threats."
