Raytheon Awarded $197 M for LPD 17 Program

(Tewksbury, Mass., November 12, 2009) -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) has been awarded a $197 million U.S. Navy contract for life-cycle engineering and support of the LPD 17 class, the Navy's next generation of amphibious warfare ships.

As a key member of the LPD alliance, Raytheon is the total ship electronics systems integrator for the LPD 17 class as well as the prime contractor for life-cycle engineering and support. The company provides the Shipboard Wide Area Network, integrated product data environment, total ship information management, and integrated ship electronics architecture for the LPD 17 class.

"With this award, Raytheon will continue to build on our past performance of expertly delivering critical ship systems support to ensure mission success for our Navy customer," said Dan Smith, president of Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems (IDS). "We are committed to providing the U.S. Navy fleet with the technology, capabilities and support that it can count on to achieve its mission objectives with confidence now and in the future."

This contract includes five options for a total of five years of support. It extends IDS' role as the ship's prime provider of life-cycle engineering and support, originally awarded in 2005.
