Cubic to Supply Combat Training Center to Kingdom of Jordan
(San Diego, Calif., October 15, 2009) -- Cubic Defense Applications, the defense systems business of Cubic Corporation (NYSE: CUB), has been awarded an $18 million contract to supply mobile combat training center instrumentation and training services to the Kingdom of Jordan. Cubic will provide a battalion-sized system capable of expanding to brigade or larger under a Foreign Military Sale coordinated by the U.S. Army Program Executive Office for Training, Simulation and Instrumentation (PEO STRI)."The Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF) selected Cubic's system after extensive evaluation of competing systems and visits to U.S. Army training sites," said John Naff, Vice President for Cubic Defense Applications. "The inherent flexibility of the system allows the JAF to deploy this advanced training capability anywhere in the Kingdom and train in any geographic location."
The new combat training center (CTC) will feature an operator-friendly, Windows-based exercise control (EXCON) component, 2D and 3D tactical communications, and dynamic after-action review capabilities. Cubic's latest-generation laser-based tactical engagement system -- the MILES Individual Weapon System -- will provide GPS-based real-time position location for dismounted soldiers and vehicles as well as simulated weapons performance.
Jordan's new combat training center is scheduled for delivery in 2010. Cubic will provide operations and maintenance of the training center instrumentation as part of the overall contract.
