Battelle Wins Key Federal Contracts in Defense and National Security(Columbus, OH, October 15, 2009) -- Battelle's National Security Global Business recently was awarded a number of significant contracts highlighting the broad range of chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) capabilities and technology solutions that Battelle offers to federal agencies.
The Global UAV Market 2013-2023
-- A $13.7 million contract to conduct data collection, assessments, evaluations, and studies of the processes for chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) materiel systems managed by the Joint Program Manager, Consequence Management (JPM-CM). The contract also includes tasks associated with the fielding and modernization of commercially available CBRN equipment, in addition to related engineering, test and evaluation, sustainment and training.
-- A Battelle team was awarded a two-year, $15 million contract with the U.S. Air Force, Air Force Major Commands and Air Force installation Medical Treatment Facilities. As part of the contract, Battelle and a team member will provide medical readiness technical support to further develop and maintain the Air Force Medical Service's capability to plan, train, and equip specialized teams that can effectively respond worldwide to any event that may include contamination from weapons of mass destruction.
-- A $9.8 million contract to investigate, analyze, and enhance the Kirtland Air Force Base CBRN readiness and response program, emergency response education/training exercises, and advance techniques for CBRN risk characterization, risk assessment, risk mitigation, and risk management for the 377th Aerospace Medical Squadron, Bioenvironmental Flight.
-- A $9.6 million contract with the U.S. Army CBRNE School to provide technical and analytical defense research. The scope consists of capabilities development, studies, analysis, experimentation, and demonstration to identify and address capability gaps in doctrine, organization, training, material, leadership, and education personnel and facilities.
-- Battelle was awarded $12.4 million by the U.S. Army for additional Continuous Technology Refreshment work for the design, engineering, and production of technologically refreshed electronics/avionics.
-- A $4.5 million contract to provide Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) support for modular battery and power control cartridge assemblies for the Man Transportable Robotic System (MTRS) MK-II explosive ordnance disposal robot (Talon) and fabricate limited quantities of battery assemblies for Naval Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Technology Division.
-- Battelle was awarded a $9.2 million sole-source task order contract to conduct studies and analysis for the U.S. Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine to protect Air Force and Department of Defense personnel against chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear hazards, principally Toxic Industrial Chemicals/Materials.
