P&W and ITR Sign $8 M Material Support Agreement
(Cartagena, Colombia, October 15, 2009) -- Pratt & Whitney and ITR (Turborreactores, S.A. de C.V.) have signed a five-year exclusive material support agreement with an estimated value of more than $8 million. The agreement covers new compressor blades and vanes for the JT8D engine. Pratt & Whitney is a United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX) company."We count on Pratt & Whitney for high quality parts," said Juan Espitia, Chief Operations Officer, ITR. "This agreement strengthens our 12-year strong relationship with Pratt & Whitney."

The JT8D has been one of the most successful commercial engine programs in aviation history. Pratt & Whitney introduced the JT8D to commercial aviation in 1964 with the inaugural flight of Boeing's 727-100 aircraft. Many variants of the JT8D family have been produced, covering the thrust range from 14,000 to 17,400 pounds and powering 727, 737, and DC-9 aircraft.
