Six Italian soldiers killed in Kabul attack: minister
ROME, Sept 17, 2009 (AFP) - Six Italian soldiers were killed and another three wounded in a suicide bomb attack on Thursday in the Afghan capital Kabul, Defence Minister Ignazio La Russa said.Ten Italian paratroopers were riding in two armoured vehicles when the suicide bomber, apparently in a white Toyota vehicle, struck, he said.

"Sadly I must confirm the loss of six human lives from the parachute regiment," La Russa said in a statement to the Senate.
Italy's lower House of Parliament held a one-minute silence in memory of the soldiers while Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi addressed condolences to their families.
Italy has 3,250 troops in Afghanistan.
