ST's Aerospace Arm Secures Primera Air For Component Support Programme

(Singapore, July 8, 2009) -- ST Engineering today announced that its aerospace arm, ST Aerospace, has signed a component support programme with Icelandic operator, Primera Air. Worth US$32.5m (about S$47.3m), the programme is for the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) of its landing gears over five years and an eight-year comprehensive component Maintenance-By-the-Hour (MBH(tm)) programme that includes parts exchange, MRO, component engineering services and logistics. Commencing immediately, these contracts are to support the airline's current fleet of six Boeing 737 next generation aircraft and an additional six aircraft in the near future.

These contracts supersede the time-and-material component support services arrangement currently provided by ST Aerospace for two of Primera Air's MD-80 aircraft. ST Aerospace's relationship with Primera Air dates back to three years ago.

"Over the years, ST Aerospace has proven to be a reliable, proactive and flexible supplier. This has given us the assurance to sign on for a wider scope of services for components for our fleet of Boeing 737 next generation aircraft, including landing gears. We believe that ST Aerospace will be able to render invaluable support to Primera Air as we continue on our path of expansion." ~ Jon Karl OLAFSSON, CEO, Primera Air

"We are delighted to play a part in Primera Air's continued growth and transition from its MD-80 operations to its fleet of Boeing 737 next generation aircraft today. These contracts for the expansion of services to Primera Air, together with the component support contracts signed with Shanghai Airlines and Cimber Sterling announced two weeks ago, attest to the growing popularity of ST Aerospace's component support programmes for the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 family of aircraft." ~ TAY Kok Khiang, President, ST Aerospace
