ST Engineering Awarded Training Contract by the RSN

(Singapore, July 1, 2009) -- The Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) has awarded a contract, worth an estimated S$20m, to ST Engineering to provide education cum training services and a training ship to the RSN. In addition, ST Engineering will provide RSN with the use of a vessel for navigation and seamanship training at sea. The three-year contract commences immediately with an option for another three years thereafter. The contract is signed with ST Education & Training, a wholly-owned subsidiary of ST Electronics, the electronics arm of ST Engineering.

Under this Integrated Training Workforce (ITWF) contract, ST Electronics' instructors will fulfil some of the RSN's training needs. These include instructional services, curriculum development and subject matter expert consultancy. The subjects will cover a wide variety of professional topics spanning warfare, navigation, weaponry, communications, under-water systems, electronics, damage control and power generation. Also included are professional topics such as Bridge Resource Management, Safety and Quality Improvement. The training will be conducted for officers, officer cadets and all levels of warrant officers, specialists and full-time National Servicemen.
