Ann Arbor, June 30, 2008 --[ASDWire]-- Aerospace consultancy AeroStrategy recently participated in a panel discussion of "Emission Trading and Carbon Offsets" at Air Transport World's conference, "Eco-Aviation - Making it Work for the Aviation Industry and Planet" on June 20, 2008.

Related Research on ASDReports.com:
Unmanned Marine (UMV) and Ground Vehicles (UGV)
- Air Transport accounts for 75% of aviation's 160 million turbine engine hours.
- Air Transport fuel consumption is around 156 Tg [51 Billion gallons]. Old and mature aircraft account for nearly 60 percent of this.
- Air Transport emits around 500 million tons of CO2 per annum.
- Given current fleet performance and traffic growth projections, fuel consumption will grow at four percent on an annual basis.
- Next-generation aircraft will account for 15 percent of fuel consumption by 2017; therefore the greatest gains to fuel efficiency in the short- to medium-term lie in initiatives to improve fuel efficiency of the existing fleet.
- Given current fuel prices, fuel has become 35% of an airline's operating cost structure - hence the economic imperative to improve fuel efficiency.
