ITT Completes Design Milestone on B-1B EW System Upgrade

(Paris, June 17, 2009) -- ITT Corporation (NYSE:ITT) recently completed the System Functional Review to an upgrade for the U.S. Air Force B-1B's major self-protection system.

The upgrade of the 20-year old technology will improve reliability and maintainability. The redesign incorporates new technology, as well as a redesign of test and support equipment., for the Band 4-8 Receiver Line Replacement Unit(LRU) in the AN/ALQ-161, the major protection system for the United States Air Force's B-1B Bomber.

"With this second of five check points completed, we remain committed to bringing this critical technology to one of our most important fighter aircraft," said ITT Electronic Systems President Chris Bernhardt.

The review ensures that the design requirements are addressed by the system. Program and technical experts from Robins Air Logistics Center, Warner Robins, Ga., reviewed and approved the concept designs. The next development step for ITT is the preliminary design phase, which culminates in a formal Preliminary Design Review currently planned for the late 2009.
