Rolls-Royce Wins $190m Share of Etihad Order

(June 16, 2009) -- Rolls-Royce, the global power systems company, has won a $190m share in an order from Etihad for V2500 engines to power a total of 20 Airbus A320 family aircraft. The contract includes a long-term service agreement.

The V2500 is produced by the International Aero Engines consortium (IAE) in which Rolls-Royce is a senior shareholder. IAE's other partners are Pratt & Whitney, the Japanese Aero Engines Corporation and MTU Aero Engines.

James Hogan, Chief Executive Officer of Etihad, said: "We are dedicated to operating to the highest standards and part of that involves a commitment to the environment. By ensuring we introduce only the most advanced technology into our fleet, we can be a greener business. As the most environmentally-friendly engine on the A320 family, the V2500 has proved it helps us achieve this goal."
