Frasca Delivers Mustang Level 5 FTD to the FAA

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has taken delivery of a Cessna Citation Mustang Flight Training Device (FTD) built by Frasca International, Inc., Urbana, IL. The device is qualified as an FAA Level 5 FTD and has been installed at the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma City. This is the first Level 5 FTD delivered for a very light jet (VLJ) category aircraft.

The device accurately replicates the flight deck of the Mustang jet and includes the Garmin G1000 avionics package, Frasca's TruVisionTM Global Visual System with a 220 degree display system, a high fidelity sound system, Frasca's TruFeel electric control loading system, AutoCert-test for meeting FAA QMS requirements, Frasca's Graphical Instructor Station (GISt(tm)) and an enhanced Frasca developed debrief station that includes digital playback of cockpit mounted camera recordings. The FTD was qualifed and delivered to the FAA ahead of schedule.

"This FTD exceeds Level 5 requirements in that it includes an enclosed cockpit, wide field of view visual system, type specific flight tested aerodynamic data, and actual aircraft parts," stated John Frasca, VP, Frasca International. "Frasca has the capability to build FTDs and Full Flight Simulators for any VLJ category aircraft and looks forward to expanding into this market sector."
