(Fort Wayne, Ind., April 1, 2009) -- ITT Corporation's (NYSE:ITT) Communications Systems today announced the qualification and release of the Soldier Radio Waveform (SRW) 1.0C waveform. This delivery represents a significant accomplishment by both the ITT and government teams, setting a benchmark delivery for the Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS).ITT began work on this JTRS contract in November 2006 and completed the work in just over two years. Under the contract, the development and qualification testing of the SRW waveform is one of the key elements of the U.S. Department of Defense's efforts to build a mobile and adaptive communications network. As the first qualified waveform to reach Software Communications Architecture 2.2.2 compliance, ITT's delivered SRW 1.0C represents the reference waveform functionality for performance, networking and porting onto various radio types.
"ITT's delivery of the Soldier Radio Waveform 1.0C marks a significant milestone for the Joint Tactical Radio System and demonstrates the value of our ITT JTRS business partnership with the government's joint program executive office in San Diego," said Ken Peterman, president, ITT Communications Systems. "ITT's performance on SRW 1.0C and unrivalled tactical communications expertise in both hardware and software development and manufacturing positions us well to make further significant contributions to the JTRS program in the years to come."
