L-3 Awarded US Navy Systems, Software & Planning Contract

(New York, February 18, 2009) -- L-3 Communications (NYSE: LLL) announced today that its Command & Control Systems and Software (C2S2) division has been awarded an indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (ID/IQ) contract by the U.S. Navy for software, planning and engineering services tasks. This is a one-year award with four optional years. If all options are exercised, it would be valued at $87.4 million.

Under this contract, L-3 will provide a broad array of services including support for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) systems; unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) motion imagery software development, emergency preparedness planning, technology validation, and mission training for the Navy's ISR & Information Operations Department, various joint programs and the Federal Emergency Management Agency and Department of Homeland Security.

"Our solid program performance and commitment to our naval customer over the past five years has resulted in this follow-on award," said John Medea, president of L-3 C2S2. "By blending information technology and software capabilities from across our services business, our L-3 team will continue to be a cost-effective, low-risk source for ISR systems support and extended applications to other Navy and joint programs."
