(Augsburg, February 11, 2009) -- MT Aerospace, a subsidiary of the European aerospace and technology concern OHB Technology AG (ISIN: DE0005936124, Prime Standard), has signed long term contracts for sub-assemblies for a further 35 ARIANE 5 launchers just one week after the launch service provider Arianespace commissioned the European industrial consortium. The contracts have a total value of 370 million Euros.
"These orders guarantee the ARIANE production into the year 2013 giving the Augsburg site a stable perspective," said Hans Steininger, CEO of MT Aerospace on this occasion.
MT Aerospace delivers tanks and structural components for the ARIANE 5 for an average of 7 launchers per year to various industrial partners within the Ariane group. The contracts with the prime contractor EADS Astrium and level 1 supplier Europropulsion were signed on the 5th and 9th of February 2009, respectively. The contract between MT Aerospace and Cryospace is near to conclusion.
MT Aerospace AG manufactures components and subsystems for the aviation and aerospace industry and is a system supplier for antennas and mechatronics. Approximately 600 employees produced a turnover of 120 million Euros in the financial year 2008.
MT Aerospace produces 10% of the ARIANE 5 launcher making it the programme's largest German supplier.
