"We are very pleased to have reached this point in the competition and are confident that our proposal offers the best solution at an affordable price for our customer," said Lynn Dugle, president, Raytheon Intelligence and Information Systems.

When launched, GOES-R will deliver significant technological advancements to provide sustained, reliable collection, analysis and distribution of data from the atmosphere, oceans, land and sun. The GOES-R ground segment will be one of the most advanced satellite ground systems ever developed, processing and distributing data to operational users within minutes of the instrument observations. This will empower more rapid responses by the National Weather Service, other NOAA offices and other agencies to emergency situations and the overall ability to better recognize, understand and predict climate change.

"We have worked with NOAA officials to provide a low-risk and reliable GOES-R ground segment to meet their evolving needs through the next decade and ensure mission continuity," Dugle said. "The final proposal depicts our 20-year partnership with the nation's space operations community and our strong commitment to the NOAA mission."
