ITT to Provide Transportable Precision Approach Radar System to Brazil
(Clifton, N.J., February 5, 2009) -- ITT Corporation has received a $9.4 million contract from CISCEA, part of the Brazilian Ministry of Defense. Under the contract, ITT will provide a transportable Precision Approach Radar (PAR)-2000 system. The enhanced precision approach radar is capable of guiding aircraft into the precision approach coverage area for landing.In addition, the contract provides for spares, training and long-term in-country support. ITT Radar Systems-Gilfillan originally sold four fixed PAR systems to Brazil in 1997. Last year, ITT was awarded a contract to upgrade these original systems; work commenced in 2008 and will conclude approximately five years later.
