ITT Wins $33.2 M Navy Award to Produce Sonar Transducers

(Clifton, N.J., December, 2008) -- ITT Corporation (NYSE: ITT) received a competitive contract award of $33.2 million to produce sonar transducers for the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane, Ind.

Under the contract, ITT Electronic Systems will produce AN/SQS-53C Unit 717 Sonar Transducer Array Shipsets, a key component of the Navy's AN/SQQ-89(V) Surface Ship Undersea Warfare combat system.

The combined system enables submarines to search, detect, classify, and localize underwater targets. The AN/SQS-53C sonar array and AN/SQQ-89 are installed on Arleigh Burke DDG-51 class destroyers and Ticonderoga CG-47 class cruisers.

Work will be performed at ITT's Under Sea Systems, Acoustic Sensors business area in Salt Lake City, Utah.
"With this award, we continue a long history of producing high quality sonar transducers, arrays, and components for the U.S. Navy," said ITT Electronic Systems President Chris Bernhardt. "We are proud that the U.S. Navy has again selected us to support their anti-submarine warfare capability."
