Herley Announces $2.4 M USAF Contract for F-16 Fire Control Radar
(Lancaster, Pa., September 18, 2008) -- Herley Industries, Inc. (Nasdaq: HRLY) announced that its Herley Lancaster division has received a contract for approximately $2.4 million from Hill Air Force Base to provide next-generation low noise assemblies ("LNA") for the U.S. and international Air Force F-16 APG-68 radar systems. As the receiver front end, the LNA receives incoming signals, then down converts these signals for processing. The F-16 represents a very large percentage of the U.S. Air Force's total fighter force and is in use by 19 countries worldwide.Myron Levy, Herley's Chairman and CEO, commented, "Herley has a long history of providing microwave components for the F-16 program. In 2004 Hill Air Force Base awarded Herley Lancaster a $19.7 million ID/IQ contract for development and production of LNAs for the U.S. and international Air Force F-16 APG-68 radar system. These next generation LNAs are now fully qualified, and the award is a follow on to the $1.2 million contract for hardware announced in March of this year. We expect to continue to receive significant future orders for LNAs for the APG-68 radar system."
