L-3 Selects IBM for USSOCOM Logistics Support Contract Team

(New York, September 16, 2008) -- L-3 Communications (NYSE:LLL) announced today that it has selected IBM Global Business Services (NYSE: IBM) as a partner in its plan to retain its logistics support contract with the U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). L-3 has successfully supported the Special Operations Forces Support Activity (SOFSA) as the prime contractor for the past 20 years, providing logistics support for USSOCOM, its component commands, selected Department of Defense customers and designated government agencies. The next multi-billion dollar contract is expected to be awarded by the end of 2008 and would extend the program through 2018.

"L-3's ability to deliver robust, critical support and solutions, combined with IBM's expertise in state-of-the-art enterprise management architectures, will ensure our Special Operations' warfighters continue to receive the support they need over the next decade," said Ed Gloviak, senior vice president of Special Programs and Services for L-3 Integrated Systems, which oversees the program.

"IBM is pleased to join the L-3 team and support this important program. We have a lengthy history serving U.S. government clients, helping organizations tackle complex challenges by integrating technology with expertise, services, research, and innovative hardware and software capabilities," said David Amoriell, vice president and general manager, IBM Global Services, Federal Industry. "As SOFSA evolves we see an opportunity to leverage technology in new ways that can significantly increase information accessibility and responsiveness for the warfighter."
