Vector Aerospace Showcases Expanded Capabilities at Farnborough(July 11, 2008) -- Vector Aerospace came into prominence in the UK in April this year with the acquisition of the Defence Aviation and Repair Agency (DARA) rotary wing and components businesses at Almondbank and Fleetlands. Vector Aerospace provides support for a broad range of engines, dynamic components, structures and avionics for operators of fixed and rotary wing aircraft. With bases in the UK, United States and Canada, Vector Aerospace is one of the world's largest independent suppliers of maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO). The company is currently transitioning to new global branding, which will see all its businesses adopt the Vector Aerospace name.
The recent acquisitions mean that Vector Aerospace plays a key role in supporting UK Armed Services' front-line operations. Croydon-based Vector Aerospace Engine Services UK Limited (formerly Sigma Aerospace) has for many years provided engine repair and overhaul for the RAF C130 K Hercules transport and VC10 tanker fleets, as well as the military transport fleets of overseas customers. Vector Aerospace Helicopter Services Fleetlands provides MRO support for the UK MoD Chinook (CH-47), Lynx and Sea King helicopters, while Vector Aerospace Components Services Almondbank supplies MRO and component support for these and other helicopter platforms for UK MoD and other European customers.
The Global Military Electro Optical Infrared (EO/IR) Market 2014-2024
Vector Aerospace intends to build on the capabilities and achievements of its newly acquired UK facilities to create a European centre of excellence in helicopter support for both civil and military operators. The company plans to capitalise on the synergies offered by its fixed and rotary wing activities to develop a truly integrated operation that will bring new levels of service to all customers.
Contributing significantly to Vector Aerospace's global reach is Vector Aerospace Helicopter Services North America (formerly ACROHELIPRO). Headquartered in Richmond, British Columbia and with facilities in Canada and the United States, it is the largest independent rotary wing MRO supplier in North America. The division provides comprehensive worldwide support for Sikorsky, Bell and Eurocopter helicopters with a customer base that includes commercial operators, government and security agencies. Vector Aerospace's other North American division, Atlantic Turbines, which will become Vector Aerospace Engine Services North America in September of this year, is a fully authorised Pratt & Whitney Canada distributor and designated overhaul facility, providing worldwide engine support to JT15D, PT6A and PW100 engines.
Vector Aerospace President and Chief Executive Officer, Declan O'Shea, said, "The expansion of our UK operations and the restructuring of our businesses under the Vector Aerospace Corporation brand are important steps in our progress towards becoming a world leading aviation support services company."
