Latest Generation Uncooled, Hand-held Thermal Imager With Target Acquisition Capabilities

(March 10, 2008) -- Elbit Systems Electro-Optics Ltd.( "Elop"). is introducing the next generation of its industry-leading series of compact thermal imaging cameras. - the new MARS, an uncooled, hand-held thermal imager with target acquisition capabilities.


This latest addition to the Elop FLIR repertoire employs advanced un-cooled Microbolometer technology. This technology facilitates extremely light weight ( 2 kilograms including a rechargeable battery) and compact dimensions. Combined with low power consumption and an operating time of more than 8 hours, the MARS is an optimal solution to a wide range of applications including, security and perimeter defense, infantry, scouts and special units, target acquisition for infantry commanders and more.

"Incorporating an integral eyesafe laser rangefinder, digital magnetic compass and GPS, the MARS sets a new gold standard for hand-held imaging cameras. It has been developed in response to the increasing demand in the US Europe and Israel," according to Elop's General Manager, Haim Rousso.
