Elbit Systems Inroduces Jedeyes Helicopter Helmet Mounted Display
Breakthrough HMD boasts widest FIELD OF VIEW in the field(Haifa, Israel, January 2, 2008) -- Elbit Systems recently introduced JedEyes TM , a highly advanced, exceptionally powerful helmet mounted display (HMD), designed especially to meet Apache and other rotary wing platform requirements.
JedEyes TM addresses the special needs of helicopter pilots and offers dramatic improvements over existing HMDs, not only through its ultra-wide Field of View (FOV), but also by providing razor-sharp, high resolution imagery and allowing pilots to take in wider than ever areas of ground and sky, with everything in sharp focus. Exciting features and unique technologies combine to provide dual vision 3D imagery on the See-Through Visor as well as processing and manipulation of a variety of visual cues and video sources such as UAVs, digital maps and on and off-board sensors.
Elevating pilots' views and performance to new realms, the breakthrough HMD is also surprisingly lightweight, thus resulting in far less head and neck fatigue than existing HMDs. With a host of built-in features critical to safety and situational awareness, JedEyes TM is ready to take on today's complex airspace challenges and demands when rapid response to threats is essential to survival. The system is fully operational in day, night and brownout flight environments. With the emphasis on increased flight safety and situational awareness, JedEyes TM' ultra-wide FOV allows pilots to see wide expanses in high resolution with obstacles in sharp focus. It also diminishes vertigo occurrences. Pilots can super-impose obstacle symbology onto the HMD view so they can be forewarned in ample distance and time.
JedEyes TM is no longer an option but an essential when survival depends on pinpointing targets, accurate firing and egressing the area as quickly as possible. Its risk-reduction advantages include shortened targeting time since the super-wide FOV enables viewing from greater distances, thus offering more time to prepare as well as substantially shortening exposure time in hostile situations. Additionally, the system warns of dangerous environments and guides the pilot to secure waypoints via the shortest distance possible. Its "Pass in the Sky" feature assures that the flight path passes outside of the threat.
JedEyes TM' ultra wide FOV (>70o x 40o ) features extra-high resolution (2250x1200 pixels; 2 flat panel displays) fully compatible with modern aircraft sensors. It also contains cutting edge electro optic payloads, binocular/monocular display, off-the-visor display projection, 3D dual vision display picture-in-picture (fixed, pop-up, or space stabilized) and distortion correction. Additional capabilities include real time sensor fusion and multi-sensor display, virtual HUD and virtual display/cockpit.
Designed for U.S. helmet shell compatibility, JedEyes TM supports all U.S. safety procedures and standards and is fully compatible with Apache Block III, MC, MTADS and IHADSS21 systems.
JedEyes TM represents a leap forward in HMDs giving pilots unparalleled performance and the extra-edge in combat.
The Elbit Systems Group also supplies the Apache legacy IHADSS system, the updated IHADSS 21 system and the Apache Block 3 MC.
