DRS Receives a $6 M Contract from the U.S. Army to Manufacture HDTT for the Israeli Army

(Parsippany, N.J., December 17, 2007) -- DRS Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: DRS) announced today that it received a $6 million contract from the U.S. Army's Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) in Warren, Michigan, to manufacture 80-ton Heavy Duty Tank Trailers (HDTT) for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The IDF's army will use the DRS-manufactured HDTT primarily to transport its Merkava Main Battle Tank.

The contract is a follow-on award after DRS and its Israeli-based partner, Shladot Metal Works, previously won a competitively-awarded contract to build a prototype HDTT for the IDF. The manufacturing will begin immediately at the DRS Sustainment Systems business unit's facility in West Plains, Missouri. The initial deliveries will occur in May 2008 with completion expected by April 2009.

DRS is a leader in the manufacture and sustainment of military-grade transport systems. DRS currently has production and reset contracts for the U.S. Army's M1000 Heavy Equipment Transport (HET) trailer and the M989A1 Heavy Expanded Mobility Ammunition Trailer (HEMAT). These vehicles help form the backbone of the Army's heavy logistics and transport capabilities, and have been indispensable during their operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.

"With this trailer the IDF is receiving a rugged and reliable heavy transport capability in the same proud tradition of our HET and HEMAT trailers. DRS is proud to continue our long legacy of partnership with the IDF providing them with mission-critical products and systems," said Thomas G. Cornwell, president of DRS' Sustainment Systems business segment.
