Cubic Delivers Air Combat Training System for Japanese Air Self-Defense Force
(San Diego, CA., November 26, 2007) -- Cubic Defense Applications, the defense segment of Cubic Corporation (AMEX: CUB), announced that it has delivered an Air Combat Maneuvering Instrumentation (ACMI) system to the Japanese Air Self-Defense Force. The ACMI system consists of "rangeless" air combat training pods and PC-based debrief software that allows training without a fixed infrastructure. The system will soon be operational at Komatsu Air Base in central Japan.The Cubic system is composed of wing-mounted instrumentation pods which record simulated weapons actions that can be reviewed in real time via a data link to a ground-based display system, or incorporated into after-action reviews. The new system also includes Cubic's Individual Combat Aircrew Display System, or ICADS(tm), used in nine nations throughout the world for ACMI debriefs.

The transportable system is fully interoperable with the Cubic KITS systems now being used by U.S. pilots at Misawa and Kadena air bases in Okinawa, Japan, and Osan and Kunsan air bases in the Republic of Korea. KITS is an acronym for Kadena Instrumented Training System, named after the first base where the system was fielded. The system is also fully interoperable with the Royal Australian Air Force ACMI system delivered in 2007 and the Royal Thai Air Force system scheduled for delivery in 2009.
