Association of Maryland Pilots Will Adopt PilotMate(r) GPS System from ARINC(Annapolis, Maryland, July 10, 2007) -- The Association of Maryland Pilots has selected the ARINC PilotMate(r) portable Global Positioning System (GPS) for use by Maryland's marine pilots working on Chesapeake Bay waters. The decision followed a competitive bidding process.
ARINC Engineering Services, LLC will deliver 65 PilotMate units to replace the Pilot Association's older GPS equipment from a different supplier. The Maryland award marks an important step by ARINC toward acceptance of its GPS technology by marine pilot organizations of the Northeast. PilotMate has previously been adopted by marine pilots in Los Angeles and Long Beach CA, and in Tampa FL.
