Patria Received an Order for Mini-UAV Test System for the Finnish Defence Forces
(June 11, 2007) -- Patria will deliver an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) system to the Finnish Defence Forces. The system is part of a program set to test surveillance solutions for replacement of anti-personnel mines. The test system includes two aerial vehicles, a ground control station, a digital data link and spares. The autonomously operating UAV equipped with either daylight or infrared camera provides the operator with real time situational awareness thus enabling effective remotely operated area surveillance. In addition the UAV can be used to identify moving objects detected by other sensor systems.
Patria's Modular Airborne Sensor System (MASS) is a multi-mission Mini-UAV solution for defence and security applications such as reconnaissance, surveillance, border control and rescue operations. With the multiple payload options the system offers enhanced situational awareness in real time for both military and civil authorities. No dedicated piloting skills are needed as the system can be operated fully autonomously.
