Elbit Systems Introduces 'silver Marlin' Unmanned Surface Vehicle

Latest USV set to perform diverse security-related missions Drawing on world class know-how derived from generations of Unmanned Air Vehicle (UAV) design, development and operation, Elbit Systems newest offering in the unmanned platform field is Silver Marlin, a fast, agile and highly maneuverable Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV). New on the sea front and ready to make waves, Silver Marlin is a medium-sized USV featuring autonomous obstacle avoidance sensors and controls. Capable of carrying a wide variety of payloads including Elbit Systems' Electro-Optic Naval payload and Remote-Controlled Stabilized Weapon Station, this USV features adaptive boat control to enhance performance in rough conditions and at high speeds. The common UAV and USV Mission Control System is linked to Silver Marlin via Satellite Communication. Among its applications are Force Protection/Anti-Terror (FP/AT), Mine Warfare (MIW) and Search and Rescue (SAR). Elbit Systems also offers Stingray, a high speed marine vehicle equipped with a miniature, portable Ground Control Station (GCS) from which operators can monitor and operate mission payloads and execute mission plans. Operation is either via remote control or totally autonomous. Stingray is suitable for port and sea structure defense and security, on-site event management and damage assessment. Both Stingray and Silver Marlin incorporate Elbit Systems' extensive experience in UAVs and feature autonomous navigation and position capabilities, cruise sensors and stabilization systems to prevent capsizing. Designed for homeland security and coast guard applications, the new USVs are also highly adaptable to naval combat ISR and EW missions. Both USVs are set to significantly enhance naval capabilities and play important roles in a variety of naval missions.
